Prince Albert: Melody (violin)
Instruments: violin and piano
Catalogue no.: D2000-2
ISMN: 979-0-708807-68-1
This is a charming and romantic little piece that is simple to play (all in first position) and which will evoke the atmosphere of a Victorian salon. It is, in effect, a song for violin and piano, not unlike some of Prince Albert's lieder for voice and piano. Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort, was born in Coburg, Germany, in 1819, and died in London in 1861. He played the piano and organ, and occasionally conducted. Most of his compositions were songs and church vocal music. This piece can be heard on this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZuNIZjoJBw
